Notes from the Editor

By Raymond Berry

For this edition of the Pension Section News, as the new editor, I had a very tough act to follow. Faisal Siddiqi was the previous editor and spent considerable time on the publication. As the new editor, Faisal helped me tremendously with the transition. I also had considerable help from the Society of Actuaries staff including Andy Peterson and Kathryn Baker. I found that behind the scenes there is much effort to produce the Pension Section News and have new found appreciation for those who do the work in producing the publication, as well as the work of the authors.

This edition has a variety of articles and I hope you make the effort to read all of them. Two articles discuss sessions at last fall's Society of Actuaries annual meeting. Others deal with various topics which I hope you find of interest.

Thanks to all of the authors for their efforts and for permission to re-print some articles. We are always looking for interesting content so please consider writing an article for the publication.

Also, please remember to send us any articles that you feel may be of interest to others in the Pension Section. When reading an article from any source, just send us a link or reference to the article and we will review and contact the author regarding permission to re-print.

Lastly, we are searching for a few more volunteers for the Pension Section's Communication Team. We are particularly searching for someone who is well versed in social media and would help our team improve the ways we communicate with our section members. Please contact me or any member of the Communication Team if you have any interest.
