Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth and Happiness by Thaler and Sunstein
Nudge is a required reading for the Strategic Decision Making FSA exam, but do not let that stop you from enjoying this extraordinarily fun read. It examines choices, biases and limits of human reasoning from a variety of perspectives with amusing stories and relatable examples. Just because Nudge is very readable does not mean it is filled with fluff. The fact that these educated, articulate professionals can fool themselves so often demonstrates how tough it is to think clearly, a point the authors emphasize and even get you to repeat. Humans fall prey to systematic errors of judgement, but you can harness this problematic tendency productively, including by helping others make better decisions. I am glad the exam pushed me towards Nudge and I hope others enjoy it as well.
