Welcome to the May issue of CompAct! I would like to use this opportunity to review the many avenues available for members to participate in Section activities.
1. There is still time to run for a spot on the Section Council. Interested applicants should apply by May 23 by filling out an Expression of Interest form on the SOA website. Serving on the council is a great way to be actively involved in directing and creating the content enjoyed
by our 1000+ members.
2. Become a Friend of the Council! On our recent council calls, we have discussed a number of interesting ideas, including research projects, proposed webcast topics, alternative methods of content delivery, and more. Stay tuned for further info, or even better, become a Friend of the
Council and join our calls!
3. In the coming months, the SOA will be rolling out an enhanced volunteering portal, with volunteer opportunities of all kinds including “micro-volunteering” options that won't take up too much time. Be sure to check for Technology Section volunteering opportunities.
4. We are always looking for contributors to CompAct and presenters for meeting sessions. Contact Paul Ramirez or Mark Africa anytime if you have an idea for an article or session.
