Welcome to the Investment & Risk Management Community

Author’s note: I wrote this article with assistance from Microsoft Copilot to help organize ideas and improve clarity for all readers.

Dear Investment & Risk Management Community Members,

It is my honor to greet you as the incoming chair of our vibrant community. I am excited to embark on this journey with each of you, building on the strong foundation that has been established in both the Investment Section and the Risk Management Section. As we merge and transition from two sections to one Community, we are opening new doors for greater thought leadership, member engagement, and opportunities for innovation. With more than 5,500 members from 57 different countries, our Community is poised for an exciting future together.

Our Community thrives because of the dedication and passion of all of you, our members, including those serving in expanded non-elected volunteer roles. These volunteers play a vital part in driving the community forward, and I encourage everyone to explore opportunities to get involved and make a difference. In addition to our elected Community Advisory Team, the Community structure is also supported by non-elected volunteers who contribute through the Content and Engagement Work Group, which develops valuable content and fosters active participation. This group organizes topic calls, articles, webcasts, and podcasts, and cultivates a collaborative and inclusive environment by facilitating discussions and welcoming new members.

We also offer leadership opportunities to non-elected volunteers via subgroups within our Community. These Topic Subgroups provide valuable spaces for members to connect with peers, share experiences, and build lasting relationships. Subgroups allow members to dive deeper into specialized topics—such as AI, Capital, or Asset modeling—and even connect with members in specific regions.

As we move forward, our commitment to producing quality content remains a top priority. You can look forward to insightful articles, engaging podcasts, interactive webcasts, dynamic topic call sessions, and meaningful networking opportunities. These resources are designed to support your professional growth and keep you informed about the latest developments in our field.

I invite you to take an active role in shaping our Community’s future. Whether you’re interested in volunteering, joining a subgroup, contributing content, or simply participating in discussions and events, your involvement is what makes our Community valuable. Reach out to learn more about volunteer opportunities, suggest new topics, or connect with peers who share your interests.

We appreciate your continued engagement and support. I look forward to connecting with you and leading our Community into a successful future.

Warm regards,
Flo Shi
