2009 Actuarial Research Conference

2009 Actuarial Research Conference

The Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin–Madison will host the 44th Actuarial Research Conference (ARC) to be held in the University's facilities. The University of Wisconsin–Madison last held the ARC in 1993 in honor of the retirement of Jim Hickman. Prior to that, the ARC was held in Madison in 1983 with an emphasis on forecasting populations. The ARC was also held at the University of Wisconsin during the 1970's.

The ARC 2009 will continue past initiatives and promote the themes of education and interaction with industry. Moreover, to take advantage of the expertise of the faculty at UW–Madison, the 2009 theme will feature statistical analysis and the conference will be open to all areas of actuarial practice.

The current plan is to engage practicing actuaries and have a special day or half–day session in conjunction with the ARC. This will allow students to interact with industry professionals.
