Enhancements to directory of actuarial membership planned
The online directory of actuarial memberships is being enhanced, based on member input, to provide greater value to actuaries and other key stakeholders. These enhancements will enable users to more efficiently access useful data that are up-to-date and accurate. In response to decreasing interest and rising costs, the printed version of the directory will not be issued in 2007, but plans call for publishing the book in 2008 or 2009 to meet the unique needs of those who use the printed directory for purposes that cannot be replicated online. Printed copies of the 2006 directory continue to be available and can be purchased through SOA Customer Care at customercare@soa.org or 1.888.697.3900. Member input on how to further enhance the online directory is welcomed and may be sent to mjordan@soa.org
Hello, goodbye
The Actuary recently got a new addition to its contributing editor equation. Steve Easson, FSA, VP, European Life and Bus. Opt., RBC Insurance, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, officially began his volunteership with the Dec./Jan. issue. The Actuary staff and the rest of the contributing editors are excited about working with Steve and look forward to the new ideas he'll bring. As we all know, for every beginning there is an ending. The same holds true for the board of contributing editors. Recently, Sim Segal, FSA, senior manager, Deloitte Consulting, LLP, New York, NY and Gaetano Geretto, FSA, president, Pelecanus Strategic Advisory Services, Inc., Toronto, Ontario, Canada, finished their two-year terms as contributing editors. Both Sim's and Gaetano's service is greatly appreciated. They both truly embraced the role of contributing editor and provided the readers of The Actuary with many useful and entertaining articles.
