Many actuaries have recently led or been part of major change projects such as implementing LDTI, IFRS-17, modeling platform migrations, or infrastructure overhaul. Additionally, future changes are coming with the introduction of AI, cloud computing, and next generation regulations. The hardware and software requirements necessary for such initiatives are often well-known, well-defined, and quantifiable. What doesn’t get discussed enough before, during, and after such change initiatives are how to lead people from the current situation to the new world. This session will be an “Ask The Expert” panel. Several actuaries who have been involved with major change initiatives as either vendors, consultants, or project leads will offer their perspectives on how to help others manage expectations, adapt as unknowns become known, and deliver new insights to their audiences. Topics will include leading multi-disciplinary teams, reacting to changes in project sponsors and project team members in your absence, and transitioning professionals very set in historical ways of work to new processes. Plus Q&A time from the audience. This session will give actuaries insight into how they can manage the “people parts” of large change projects efficiently and effectively so that they can meet objectives and ensure successful outcomes for their business units.
