This presentation is intended to build upon a presentation from the 2024 SOA Health conference and a research paper funded by the SOA. The first part of the presentation is intended to review the findings of the paper and survey how care differs for HIV+ members in the Medicare world.
The second part of the presentation intends to review the current landscape for the HIV+ Medicare members. What is the availability of Special Needs Plans in the areas HIV+ members live compared to other disease states? Have recent programmatic changes to Medicare made HIV+ members more attractive to participating plans, less attractive, or neutral?
The third part of the presentation focuses on suggestive programmatic changes for the future of Medicare to retain/promote the aspects of the Medicare program that are beneficial to HIV+ members and advise on aspects of the Medicare program that could be improved upon to ensure the Medicare world is an equitable world for HIV+ members.
