The objective of this session is to explore the fast-growing segment of healthcare that is provider enablement. Value-based care (VBC) in its original form was an alignment between providers and payers to deliver on the triple aim of cost of care, experience of care, and health of populations (more recently the quintuple aim including health equity and provider experience). Over a dozen-plus years from the inception of the most recent iteration of VBC, third-party provider enablement companies are poised to take over VBC, as the risk-bearing entities, aggregating physicians and enabling risk management and value-based care outcomes. This session will define provider enablement in its current form, focusing on risk-enablement capabilities, but also covering operational and clinical capabilities. We will explore this from the perspective of payers enabling providers, providers enabling providers (ACOs, CINs, etc.), and third-party aggregators enabling physicians and providers.
