Indian Students Actuarial Club—Update For 2025

- The website myisac.org has been updated and members are requested to sign in for more detailed writeups on the profession and the use of the skillset in problem-solving.
- Members of the Indian Students Actuarial Club (ISAC) are requested to get in touch with Society of Actuaries (SOA) personnel in India at AMookherjee@soa.org to become affiliate members of the SOA. The affiliate membership is free and gives student access to several presentations and online updates on the global developments in the actuarial community
- The initiative to get in new batch of ISAC members is being initiated:
- Chapter leaders are being put in place in 25 colleges across India, which will get their own college-level societies
- Reaching out to IB schools in India for them to become ISAC members an participate in explore the actuary profession from a global perspective
- The SOA has created a subcommittee to look after the developments in ISAC. This committee comprises people who advise the SOA in India and are employees of corporate bodies who have onboarded large numbers of people with actuarial backgrounds.
- The following activities are to be rolled out in the next six months of 2025:
- An interschool activity of presentations, quizzes and debates on risk. This will be done in eight to 10 colleges across India
- A paper presentation on a topic that will be provided with a finale to be put online where the top five papers are presented, reviewed and debated.
- Student interaction with potential employees
- Two online sessions that will offer knowledge development in the actuarial/risk field
- An election process to be completed by September in which a student committee and leadership are put in place for the ISAC in India
