Recent Phishing Emails Impersonating the SOA
The Society of Actuaries (SOA) has identified a series of phishing emails targeting members that use official SOA logos and branding to appear authentic. These messages reference member dues but were not sent by the SOA. Our internal systems remain secure; this activity constitutes brand impersonation, not a data breach. We continue to closely monitor these communications and remain committed to protecting our members' information.
What Members Should Know
- Do not click on any links or attachments and do not respond to the email.
- The SOA will never ask you for confidential information such as your username, password, payment information, or other sensitive details via email, unless you initiate contact regarding an account issue.
- Legitimate SOA emails will always originate from @eloq.soa.org or @soa.org.
Recommended Actions for Suspicious Emails
- Avoid interacting with the message, including clicking links, opening attachments, or replying.
- Report the email to your employer’s IT or security department according to internal procedures.
- Delete the message from your inbox after reporting.
We encourage all members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious communications promptly. If you have any questions regarding the legitimacy of an SOA email communication, please contact SOA Customer Service at customerservice@soa.org.
