As we move into 2026, the India Committee has been further strengthened. At the beginning of 2026, four new members were added to the committee. They are:
Sambhaji Shedale: He is an experienced FSA with over two decades of professional work experience in Actuarial and Analytics space supporting multinational companies in the U.S. and UK insurance markets, Currently, serving in the leadership position at EY GDS. In the past, he has worked at Oliver Wyman, AIG, Prudential, SAS and Conseco. He has set up and managed large actuarial units and significantly developed the scope of offshore actuarial services across his different roles. Today, he is keen on the application of data science, robotics and better technology that can provide better, quicker and cost-effective business solutions.
Ankit Agarwal: He is a qualified actuary and FSA with over 20 years of consulting experience delivering complex and high-impact projects across the UK, U.S. and Asia. Currently, engaged with developing AI-driven use cases in the financial sector and providing cost-efficient high-quality actuarial services for insurance and retirement processes. Known for his strong communication skills and honest approach, he excels at building relationships with stakeholders at all levels. He has recently returned to India and is focused on contributing to the actuarial fraternity in the country.
Gagan Sawhney: With an ASA qualification he is an experienced analyst with strong skills in databases, VBA, data analysis and risk management. He has had a long career at XL Catlin after a stint with Accenture.
Kalpana S Kumar: With an ASA qualification, she is working on the pricing team in London. She had earlier worked at Chubb in Bangalore. She will get a global perspective on the SOA India Committee.
We would also like to highlight that Anshuman Anand has stepped down from the committee as he has moved on to a role out of India in the Far East.
For 2026, Murshid Ali Kuttihassan assumed the role of Chairman of the India Committee, handed over to him by Geet Maurya, who has joined SOA as a staff actuary India.
