To better understand and support the future of the actuarial profession, the Society of Actuaries (SOA) has asked its members to participate in a job analysis survey. This information will help to ensure the Associate of the SOA (ASA) meets evolving market needs.
To ensure that the analysis reflects member views, the SOA will survey all Associates and Fellows of the SOA worldwide to understand the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics of a new ASA. This survey will assess how well the SOA can best prepare candidates for the workplace of today and the future.
The SOA strives to attract, retain, and support candidates to become actuaries. At a time when data science and artificial intelligence (AI) are of high interest to businesses, there is an opportunity to tap into AI as part of the journey to become an ASA and to embrace new technologies.
SOA members will receive an email in early March from the SOA with a link to the job analysis survey. This research is being conducted by Data Recognition Corporation (DRC), a national leader in the development and delivery of high-stakes, psychometrically sound assessments that measure knowledge, skills, and abilities. Individual responses will be anonymous and confidential. All results will be shared in aggregate with the responses of others who have completed the survey. ASAs and FSAs are encouraged to participate in this global survey to help support the future of the actuarial profession.
