Description: This is the second half of a two-part session regarding FASB Targeted Improvement (LDTI) to U.S. GAAP for long durational insurance contracts. Presenters of the session will discuss operational (e.g., data, systems, models and process, etc.) and financial issues concerning the implementation of the accounting changes. We will also discuss interpretation of the new standards specific to accident and health insurance. Throughout the session, we would like to encourage the audience to share their experiences.

The session will illustrate how to: Calculate expected and actual reserve movements Analyze the results (SOE/GBS/EBS)Explain the results to a range of audience members, including a non-actuarial focus At the conclusion of the session, attendees will be able to evaluate reserve calculation, explain reserve movements and explain PBR earnings.

Description: The Individual Disability Experience Committee (IDEC) of the SOA has gathered industry data covering 2006-2015. This sessions will highlights their findings on the recent industry experience compared to the 2013 Individual Disability Income Valuation Table (2013 IDIVT), including the impact of the recession on incidence and terminations. The audience will gain an understanding of how the recent industry experience compares to the most recent valuation table. The session will cover claim incidence and claim termination Actual to Expected (A/E) using 2013 IDIVT as the expected basis. The adequacy of the modifiers will also be also be discussed.
