It is due to the time and process needed to get the information they look for, the gap between the sales and claims process, and the reimbursement amount. Claim settlements: Claim adjudication is a technical process that review the disease, treatment and policy coverage. The process is specific to disease and difficult to be generalized. Thus, the process is far from consistent and invites fraud, abuse and wastage in this area.

The management of the insurance industry, as well as accounting and actuarial professionals, will face new challenges. This speech started from the basic logic of accounting and the framework of the standards, combined with the insurance industry's operating rules and accounting characteristics, to illustrate the orientation of the new insurance contract standards. From the internal and external perspectives of life insurance operation, this paper used common management language to discuss the understanding of the new insurance contract standards, the focus issues of the industry and the key issue of the effective implementation of the new standards -- the deep integration of accounting and actuarial.

Description: This session will explore the national landscape of state Medicaid risk adjustment program design & application and the key differences that drive effective managed care organization program management. Risk adjustment is a mechanism to adjust capitation rates between Managed Care Organizations to account for population morbidity differences. Although many states utilize this mechanism, the application of risk adjustment can vary significantly across states. The primary differences include populations, risk score models and data collection. These state application nuances affect the strategies and tactics utilized by MCOs for effective risk adjustment program management including provider financial alignment, encounter data submission and the capture of accurate diagnosis codes. The session is intended for Medicaid Managed Care Actuaries working to develop or support comprehensive risk adjustment program management functions.
