Description: The 2009 Estonia experience study includes both mortality and persistency studies of policies in force any time during the 2006-2008 study period. The study applies to the entire portfolios of the contributing companies and these companies represent the vast majority of the Estonia individual life insurance market. Separate studies were performed based upon policy counts and insurance in force. Actual mortality was compared to expected mortality based upon the SOA 1975-80 select and ultimate mortality table.

Description: Milliman was engaged by the SOA to conduct two Accelerated Underwriting (AU) surveys, one of direct companies and another of reinsurers. The surveys explored actual results from 2019–2021 and expected results from 2022.

This limitation often comes from the combination of the considerations in ASOP No. 25 “Credibility Procedures” and the fact that GLMs assign full credibility to the data. Description: Update on the SOA International experience study. The SOA has developed a new “tool” using Microsoft Access/Excel for international actuaries to conduct mortality and persistency studies in conjunction with the SOA’s international experience study initiative.

Description: Description of methods for extracting and reformatting the existing mortality tables using R. Methods and formats for storage are discussed in the second article. Intent is to generate discussion regarding the format of our stored mortality tables. Value is in the demonstration of task automation in R and in the reduction of duplicate work across companies related to reformatting tables.
