Description: In January 1998, the NAIC Life and Health Actuarial Technical Task Force asked the Society of Actuaries to address disability reserving issues. The reason for this request was that the NAIC had received reports that statutory reserves based on the current morbidity tables frequently fail the tests of adequacy and reasonableness. Further, they requested that this review extend to contract and claim reserves and across all lines of disability insurance - group and individual, and short- and long-term. They also requested help in establishing when it is appropriate for a company to use its own experience in valuation. This report represents a recommendation to the NAIC for an interim update to the 1985 CIDA Table for Individual Disability claim reserves. This zip file contains the final report and appendices.

Description: This report presents the 1997 and 1998 calendar year experience of retired individuals in the United States and Canada who are covered under group pension contracts issued in the United States and Canada. Data for calendar years 1993 through 1996 are also included to provide a comparison with 1997 and 1998 experience and to provide information on mortality trends over time.

Description: This report presents the results of the most recent study of individual life insurance lapse experience in the United States. Lapse includes termination for nonpayment of premium, insufficient cash value or full surrender of a policy, transfer to reduced paid-up or extended term status, and in most cases, terminations for unknown reason.

Description: The 2008 Philippines experience study includes both mortality and persistency studies of policies in force any time during the 2004-2006 study period. The study applies to the entire portfolios of the 19 contributing companies and these companies represent the entire Philippines individual life insurance market. Studies were performed based upon policy counts. Actual mortality was compared to expected mortality based upon the SOA 1975-80 select and ultimate mortality table.
