Description: The Group Life COVID-19 Mortality Survey gathers a high-level view of U.S. Group Term Life Insurance mortality results during the COVID-19 pandemic through September 2021, as compared to prior period baseline mortality results. This new report is an update to the survey report released in July 2021, which contained data through March 2021.

Description: The purpose of this survey is to gather a high-level view of U.S. Group Term Life Insurance mortality results during the COVID-19 pandemic, as compared to prior period baseline mortality results. The datasets for this report encompass all Group Term Life claims reported to participating carriers as of August 31, 2020. The Committee is grateful that 20 of the top 21 U.S. Group Term Life insurers are participating in this survey, with market share representing roughly 90% of the industry.

Description: Presenters will discuss mortality improvement as it applies to various lines of business with an emphasis on how individual life findings can be used to fine tune group life assumptions. In particular, it is important to know that there is not a single percentage of annual mortality improvement. Rather, experience shows that the rate of mortality improvement varies by factors such as attained age and target market.
