Description: The insurance industry is faced with many unforeseen changes such as recent advances in technologies and the associated impacts on the risk assessments. In this session, we focus on two specific developments; (i) the liquidity provision problem on automated market makers (a.k.a. DeFi exchanges such as Uniswap) and the conditions under which liquidity providers should enter or exit the DeFi token pools; and (ii) efficient utilization of drivers telematics data for better risk classification in personal auto insurance.

Description: This session will examine bias from a social science perspective. It will discuss the three types of systemic biases using the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) model. The NIST model details the three types as historical bias, societal bias, and institutionalbias. The session will also provide several examples of each type to provide a framework for identifying the social structure of bias.
