Alcohol Abuse and Liver Enzymes (AALE): Results of an Intercompany Study of Mortality

The Mortality and Morbidity Liaison Committee has completed their Alcohol Abuse and Liver Enzymes Mortality Study. One of the most challenging areas of underwriting has long been the detection of alcohol abuse in those applying for insurance. This study examines the mortality associated with evidence of excessive alcohol use, an adverse driving record or abnormalities of the liver function tests.
