Office Hours - InsurTech Advisor Opportunity
To raise the profile of members to the InsurTech community and to give actuaries exposure to that world, the Society of Actuaries (SOA) launched Office Hours in 2020. InsurTech companies use it to refine business models and elevator pitches and understand who to contact in an insurance company. In 2021, the SOA began hosting virtual sessions in April and October. In each session, 20-30 actuaries meet with 15 InsurTech companies for an informal exchange online. The SOA also offers opportunities for actuaries and startups to meet on an ad hoc basis.
After a matching process and an opportunity to review a company’s bio and profile, actuaries are paired with an InsurTech company for an Office Hours discussion.
Previous discussions led one company to understand that their solution for life insurance was also applicable to health insurance. Another participating organization was able to simplify its elevator pitch to make it more effective.
If you are an InsurTech company that would be interested in receiving these free hours of mentorship, please contact David Schraub. If you would like to partner and deliver this program to InsurTech companies, we would love to hear from you. Contact David Schraub for more information.
