If you have downloaded the RP–2000 Mortality Tables Report between August 2000 and May 2, 2001 you will need to download the additional pages. This pdf file [a link is provided] contains revised pages for the RP–2000 Mortality Tables Report dated July 2000. These revised and additional pages provide comparisons of annuities calculated using both the RP–2000 Combined Healthy table and the RP–2000 split Employee and Healthy Annuitant tables. The original pages only had values related to the Combined Healthy table.

Description: In January 1998, the NAIC Life and Health Actuarial [Technical] Task Force asked the Society of Actuaries to address disability reserving issues. As a result of this request, the Society created the Task Force to Recommend Statutory Morbidity Standards for Individual and Group Disability Benefits. The task force, in turn, established two subcommittees, one to deal with individual issues and one to deal with group issues. This report, from the Society of Actuaries [SOA] ‘Experience Studies – Individual Disability,’ contains the recommendations of the Individual Subcommittee to the NAIC for an interim update to the 1985 CIDA Table for Individual Disability Claim Reserves.

Description: This report, from the Society of Actuaries [SOA] ‘Experience Studies – Individual Annuities,’ examines the persistency of deferred annuities on a contract anniversary basis. The study was designed to analyze the surrender activity of deferred annuities by selected product, customer, and distribution characteristics. Another purpose of the analysis is to quantify, through modeling procedures, the relationship between surrender activity and variables associated with surrender. Quantifying this relationship is useful in product design, valuation, investment management, evaluation of market performance, and corporate planning.

Description: In 2005, the NAIC Life and Health Actuarial Task Force asked the actuarial professional bodies to develop mortality tables to better reflect actual mortality for reserving. The Preferred Mortality team made a presentation at the March 2008 LHATF meeting about the margins that should be used in developing the Valuation Tables. This paper and accompanying spreadsheet is intended to provide the information requested at that meeting.

Much has been written about the problems facing not only the Canadian retirement system but that of almost all countries. The author states that the current Canadian regulatory framework is disjointed, inconsistent and bureaucratic. The focus of this paper is to define, describe and discuss what the author sees as the fundamental first step in redefining Canadian pension plans.
