Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA)
To attain the CERA credential, a candidate must successfully complete the requirements shown below. The CERA credential no longer provides an alternative pathway to earning the ASA designation.
The CERA credential is overseen by the CERA Global Association (CGA), which provides a variety of resources in support of the risk management community. The SOA is one of more than twenty actuarial organizations that have been authorized to grant the CERA credential.

SOA Members
Already an FSA or ASA and considering a CERA credential?
- FSA members seeking the CERA credential must successfully complete the ERM exam and ERM module.
- ASA members should contact SOA customer service to find out their current credit status and remaining credits needed for the CERA credential.
Pathway Updates
- The fall 2025 FSA pathway enhancements include changes that affect the CERA credential requirements.
- The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Exam will be replaced by course CFE 101 (Enterprise Risk Management) in fall 2025.
- A revised version of the ERM module will replace the existing ERM module after December 31, 2025.
- The following combinations of credits will be accepted:
- ERM Exam and existing ERM module
- Course CFE 101 and existing ERM module
- Course CFE 101 and revised ERM module
- The following combination of credits will not be accepted:
- ERM Exam and revised ERM module
