Announcement: SOA releases March 2024 FAM, FAML, and FAMS Exams passing candidate numbers.

Components of the Advanced Topics in Predictive Analytics (ATPA)

The Advanced Topics in Predictive Analytics (ATPA) consists of several e-Learning modules, as well as a take-home assessment. Learn more about the various components of the ATPA assessment below.

Modules

The ATPA e-Learning modules provide support designed to enhance candidates’ knowledge from the Statistics for Risk Modeling (SRM) Exam and Predictive Analytics (PA) Exam learning objectives and readings. The modules will also clarify the SOA’s expectations regarding a successful ATPA Assessment submission.

Candidates receive access to the ATPA modules by registering for the ATPA Assessment and will have access to the modules until their ATPA version's submission deadline.

Assessment

The ATPA assessment is provided on a set schedule and presents candidates with a data set and a realistic business problem. Candidates prepare and submit a report that presents and supports their solution. Similar to a work environment, candidates may use external resources such as textbooks and the internet.

You must submit your ATPA Assessment before the earliest of the following events:

  • 96 hours have passed since downloading the assessment (tracked by the assessment clock).
  • The submission deadline for your version of the final assessment is reached.

If any of these events occur before you complete and submit the assessment, you are no longer eligible to submit your current version of the ATPA assessment. You will need to retake a future version.
