Enrolled Actuaries Examinations (EA-1, EA-2 Segment F, EA-2 Segment L)
Overview
The SOA administers exams on behalf of the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries. The exams assess skills necessary to protect the interests of pension plan participants.
- The EA-1 exam covers mathematics of compound interest, mathematics of life contingencies, and demographic analysis.
- The EA-2 Segment F exam covers actuarial assumptions, actuarial cost methods, calculation of minimum required contributions, and calculation of maximum deductible contributions.
- The EA-2 Segment L exam covers ERISA and related laws.
The EA-1 exam and EA-2 Segment L exam are offered in the spring. The EA-2 Segment F exam is offered in the fall.
Completion of both the EA-2F and EA-2L exams gives credit for either RET 201 or one additional course. Other EA exams do not count towards credit in the FSA pathway.
