Welcome to the March 2024 issue of International News. On behalf of the section council, I am delighted to update you on recent developments and initiatives.

The International Section Council and Friends of the Council have just completed our annual planning activities, including strategic discussions to prioritize initiatives that we hope will elevate our collective experience within the section. The group developed the following three priority areas to better serve the members of the International Section in 2024:

  1. Promote awareness of the SOA International Section among SOA members, candidates and affiliates.
  2. Educate section members on emerging topics/new changes in international insurance (e.g., regulatory framework, technology, financial transformation, globalization/geopolitical landscape, climate changes, and cross-border transactions).
  3. Coordinate with actuarial communities (e.g., other SOA sections), support the SOA International Committee and help promote other international actuarial organizations.

Your insights are crucial to shaping the future of our section, so please feel free to reach out to me or any of the section council members to share feedback or raise questions regarding these priorities.

Looking ahead to March, we are excited to announce a webcast on the regulatory updates in Bermuda. This webcast will focus on the details and potential impact on upcoming regulatory changes for 2024. It is scheduled for March 26 at 9:00 a.m. ET.

As we embrace the prospect of a more connected future, we are exploring opportunities to organize in-person networking activities. Stay tuned for more details as we navigate these possibilities within our global actuarial community.
