It would be a great honor and privilege to lead the SOA in the coming years, during which we will navigate challenges to capitalize on the exciting opportunities ahead for the profession.
Opportunities include:

- Leveraging AI to enhance the SOA’s service delivery to its members
- Explore intersection of climate change and geopolitical risks to contribute to solutions
- Continue to globalize the SOA’s approach to education and research
Challenges include:
- Adapting programs at the pace of change in the business environment
- Enhance the relevance of the actuarial profession by exploring new employment opportunities
- Increasing member engagement in volunteer roles, both in North America and globally
- Ensuring inclusive and unbiased decision-making at the board level while managing the associated risks
Leadership commitments – I promise to:
- Prioritize active listening to engage with and learn from stakeholders
- Advocate for appropriately paced decision-making, recognizing when speed is crucial and when consultation and deliberation are necessary to mitigate unintended consequences
- Hold myself and others accountable to deliver on promises
- Champion the advancement of the profession every day
Message Two
Voting is open!
By now, I hope you will have had the opportunity to review the candidate information for all President-Elect and Board Member candidates and are getting ready to vote (if you haven’t already done so!)
My comments about the future and direction of the SOA have not changed. Our profession has endless opportunities that need a vibrant, global association. We benefit significantly from strong positive relationships with other actuarial organizations, especially where we can support them with a world-class qualification and education system. Expertise honed here at home in North America and in markets around the world will be important in addressing business and societal issues.
Leadership of the SOA needs to understand the issues and the opportunities and make good choices about how to best deploy staff and volunteer resources. The SOA, like any global organization is complex. At the same time, we must be ready to evolve quickly to respond to an ever-changing business environment. I would be thrilled to have your vote and your confidence that I can be the leader to take us there.
