Expression of Interest
Once the Nominating Committee publicly posts the call for nominations for Board elections, a fellow can submit their name by completing the expression of interest form. The Nominating Committee reviews the nominees submitted.
An important step in the nomination process is answering a series of questions that reflect your understanding and ability to demonstrate behaviors that exemplify criteria for open positions. If you are nominated, this questionnaire will be reproduced in the election ballot and posted on the SOA website.
As a nominee, your interview will be with two members of the Nominating Committee to answer a series of questions. Interviews are generally 30-45 minutes long (but please block out 60 minutes), conducted virtually, and are recorded. Recorded interviews are confidential and only used by the Nominating Committee. To schedule your interview, visit the scheduling assistant.
Two initial questions that will start the interview:
- What do you hope to achieve being on the Board that you can’t do through another volunteer opportunity?
- Please tell us in 3-5 minutes why you are the best choice for a position on the SOA Board of Directors and how would you lead the organization.
Background checks are required for President-Elect and Vice-Chair and Elected Board Member positions. You are unable to appear on the SOA ballot without completing the information required. Fill out this year’s confidential forms and begin the process.
