Academic Resources/Exam Support
The SOA is committed to the development and growth of all actuarial candidates. Find a variety of reimbursement programs and testing accommodations we offer, as well as diversity scholarship application opportunities below.
- Actuarial Exam Support Program — The Society of Actuaries (SOA) and the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) offer a jointly-sponsored exam reimbursement program. The Actuarial Exam Support Program, based on qualifications of need, is available to candidates as of May 1, 2024.
- Exam Reimbursement Program — This program offers qualified candidates exam reimbursements and study materials for two additional credentialing requirements.
- Needs-Based Exam Reimbursement Program — This pilot covers a study material stipend and reimbursement for passed exams P, FM, IFM, LTAM, and MAS-I, for students living in the U.S. and Canada who meet certain criteria.
- Diversity Extension of University-Earned Credit — This program supports university partners in providing education and exams through which students may earn credit from some SOA preliminary exams, beginning with the Financial Mathematics (FM) exam.
- Diversity Scholarships — Several actuarial organizations and employers collaborate to offer scholarship opportunities to underrepresented candidates in the actuarial profession.
- Testing Accommodations — The SOA, in accordance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA), is committed to providing equal access to our exams and certification tests for those with documented disabilities and/or special needs.
