Biography

Gillespie spent 19 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota – as vice president of Underwriting after various actuarial leadership roles. In recent years, she was vice president of Actuarial Services for Consortium Health Plans focusing on the national employer market. Gillespie has been retired for the past few years and has focused on her volunteering for the SOA and as a judge and Chief Referee for U.S. Figure Skating.

As a volunteer for the SOA, Gillespie served on the SOA Board for five years and the Leadership Team for two years as secretary/treasurer. She was also a member of the Strategic Planning Task Force and the Centers of Actuarial Excellence Evaluation Committee. As Chair of the Professionalism Education Management Committee, she is involved with the current effort to transform the Associateship Professionalism Course (APC) and Fellowship Admissions Course (FAC) experiences from in-person events to virtual ones as part of the SOA’s response to COVID-19 restrictions. Additionally, Gillespie represented the SOA as a member of the CAS/SOA Joint Committee for Inclusion, Equity and Diversity.
