International Program in Actuarial Sciences in Bogota
The Society of Actuaries (SOA) sponsored the first International Program in Actuarial Sciences May 8-11 in Bogota, Colombia. The SOA Latin America Committee collaborated with the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) to organize the successful event.
The seminar was three and a half days and it was offered by Colombia’s Institute Nacional de Seguros (INS-Fasecolda). More than 80 participants from eight areas of Latin America attended, including people from El Salvador, Paraguay, Panama, Honduras, Ecuador and Bolivia. The seminar was designed for Actuaries, Auditors, Vice-presidents, and Finance Managers from the Insurance, Reinsurance and Finance industry.
"We are very pleased to add specialized actuarial topics to our course offerings with renowned speakers from the SOA and CAS,” noted INS Executive Director José Fernando Zarta.

IAA Delegate Council & Committee Reports – Berlin 2018

Mexico City – IAA Delegate Council & Committee Reports
Mexico City hosted the council and committee meetings of the International Actuarial Association (IAA), from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2, 2018. A delegation from the SOA attended the event that included the approval of admittance into the IAA of the Nigerian Actuarial Society and the Ecuadorian Actuarial Association, bringing the total number of IAA members to 100, with 74 full-member associations and 26 associate-member associations.
