In Memory of Robert A. Moreen

December 22, 2021

Robert A. Moreen, FSA 1980, died October 30, 2021 at the age of 67. Born March 12, 1954, Bob was a multi-talented person. Initially a music major (’68), graduate student (’75), and assistant professor at Princeton University, Bob founded Musica Alta, a group of Renaissance singers, and made a significant contribution to the study of Verdi’s operas. Changing fields, Bob became a consulting actuary and lived in Bala Cynwyd, Pa. He joined Mercer in 1989 where he had a brilliant career, moving from its Health Consulting Practice into the M&A field that he created there. He developed several major business initiatives including the Financial Strategy Group in the US and Europe and also Mercer’s point of view on retirement benefit designs. Bob retired in 2012 and enjoyed travelling throughout the world with his wife, playing with his grandchildren, hiking with friends, attending concerts, and reading voraciously in many fields. He is hugely missed by his wife Vera, his sons Gabriel and Raphael, and their families.
