The Actuary Wins Publishing Awards

Schaumburg, IL (July 18, 2018) – The Society of Actuaries (SOA) announces that its flagship publication, The Actuary, has received four awards, based on its content and design.

The Actuary received three awards at the Association Media & Publishing 38th Annual EXCEL Awards. Winners were chosen for taking bold chances in editorial, design, advertising and marketing, online publishing, and electronic newsletter categories. The EXCEL Awards are the largest and most prestigious award program that exclusively recognizes excellence in nonprofit association media, publishing, marketing and communications.

Excel awards include:

  • The silver award for general excellence,
  • a bronze for The Actuary website design, and
  • a bronze award for a single topic issue—longevity and retirement, August/September 2017 issue.

    Rob Brown, FSA, ACAS, FCIA, HONFIA, served as lead contributing editor for that issue. Read his editorial on longevity risk.

    Additionally, The Actuary received a Hermes Creative Award for content partnership. This award recognizes the publication’s staff partnership with GLC, a marketing communications agency, to redesign the magazine and the ongoing efforts in publishing the magazine in print and digitally.
