Society of Actuaries Announces Two Canadian University Programs with University-Earned Credit Status

March 28, 2024, Chicago, IL – The Society of Actuaries (SOA) has recognized the University of Waterloo and the University of Manitoba as University-Earned Credit (UEC) Centers of Actuarial Excellence (CAE). With this UEC designation, students at these universities can earn credit for designated SOA exams by attaining a required score on university coursework. There are now 23 universities across the globe that are approved for UEC and are offering courses that enable students to make efficient progress in earning the Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation, based on their strong performance in university courses.

“The UEC programs at these two universities provide new opportunities for their students and will help them move ahead quickly and efficiently toward earning their ASA,” said Greg Heidrich, SOA Chief Executive Officer. “This program is really aimed at supporting students. We know these students have a bright future ahead of them in the actuarial profession and we’re working to help them get there in the most efficient way possible.”

The UEC CAE program is one of several important programs aimed at supporting the SOA’s strategic efforts to grow the actuarial profession by providing actuarial education and credentialing opportunities globally with the most comprehensive, rigorous, and efficient system possible.
