Description: Understanding changing market conditions and various regulatory regimes is important to maximize shareholder value through the use of efficient capital. This session will educate on the solvency requirements for Bermuda, U.S., Canada and the European Union and highlight key differences among the four regimes. Description: FASB has provided broad guidance for application of long-duration targeted improvements (LDTI) in Actuarial Standards Update 2018-12 for U.S GAAP financial reporting. However, the broad guidance provided leads to several interpretations and technology, data and system implementation challenges. During this session, the presenters will focus on sharing the technology, system and data challenges and insights gathered from their FASB LDTI implementation journey, including lessons learned from collaboration with other discipline areas and stakeholders such as finance, investment and IT. The presenters will also discuss methods to overcome challenges and go beyond compliance.

Description: Under the new reporting regimes actuaries have the opportunity to become leaders for all aspects of cash flows and related insights, rather than just the reserve change line on the income statement, to help educate the organization and informed business decisions. This session will provide practical examples and scenarios where actuaries take on leadership roles to drive reporting compliance and organizational changes; as well as provide an opportunity to discuss what didn’t work as well when it came to deploying new technologies to the valuation and pricing teams.

These applications are well documented and most actuaries, at least at a high level, are familiar with these concepts.
