This new version of the model reflects historical U.S. population mortality experience through 2018. For clarity, the updated mortality improvement scale based on this 2020 version of the model is called Scale MP-2020. Description: The Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) engaged RGA Reinsurance Company (RGA) to undertake a research project on Canadian level premium term life insurance products with a particular focus on the magnitude and impact of the “shock lapse” at the end of the level premium period. This project is similar to the SOA-sponsored research completed by RGA for U.S. term plans in 2010 and updated September 2013 and May 2014.

Description: This memorandum is a supplement to the Long Term Care Experience Basic Table (“Experience Table”) that was published bythe Society of Actuaries (“SOA”) in April 2015 and revised in July 2015.

Description: The Society's Group Disability Insurance Experience Committee has completed their study of termination experience for the period 2009-2017. Included is a preliminary report, consolidated database (CDB), pivot tables and appendices.

Description: Report on the first study conducted jointly by LIMRA International and the SOA Long Term Care Experience Committee. The study examines voluntary lapse and total termination activity in LTCI for calendar years 2000 and 2001. Overall, the results indicate that LTCI persistency has continued to improve however, the current improvement seems to be coming from the individual lines of business rather than the group lines.

Description: The Society of Actuaries and LIMRA have sponsored a U.S. Individual Disability Income Persistency Study. The report, authored by Cathy Ho and Steve Elek, presents the results of a study of individual disability income (“IDI”) lapse experience in the United States between observation years 2000 and 2007. This is the first report in a two-part series that will present results of a study conducted jointly by LIMRA and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and based on data provided by 12 individual disability income insurance writers.
