Description: A new statistical approach is presented for calculation of Incurred But Not yet Paid, IBNP, claim amounts. It is based on two new variant methods, the Simple Projected Paid Lag method and the Regressed Projected Paid Lag method.

Description: This work investigates the use of a statistical approach to calculate the incurred but not reported IBNR reserve directly. This allows for the reserve to be estimated in one step, without completion factors, and it provides a confidence interval around the estimate of IBNR as well.

Description: The Joint Committee on Health Insurance appointed a subcommittee, known as Task Force 4, to study the problems of reserves for accident and health insurance. The final report of the Task Force, including basic tables of net annual claim costs for hospital and surgical expense insurance, was adopted by the NAIC at its December 1956 meeting.
