Description: This session at the SOA 1990 Hartford Spring Meeting is about proposed revisions of the Standard Valuation Law. The changes from the insurance company and regulator perspective are discussed. The concept of the valuation actuary is also discussed.

Description: The Financial Accounting Standards Board FASB and the International Accounting Standards Board IASB issued “The Norwalk Agreement” in October 2002, a memorandum of understanding that reaffirmed their commitment to develop a single set of high quality accounting standards. At that meeting the two standard setters agreed to place a high priority on three steps toward achieving that goal.

Description: This session at the 1998 Valuation Actuary Symposium looks at how companies can use the cash-flow testing structure for additional analysis and be more useful to the managment of the company. The concept of transfer pricing within a life company is explained.

Description: The Group Life Insurance Experience Committee of the Society of Actuaries has completed the 2005 Group Term Life Waiver Reserve Table Report. There were several compelling reasons to develop a new experience study and table, not the least of which was that 35 years is a long interval for any study. Description: This paper reports on the findings of a working group established in 1999 by the SOA's Finance Practice Area to look at how the insurance industry measures and monitors risk through risk position reporting. Also the working group established industry standard practices in risk position reporting and reported on a number of areas for possible improvement in such reporting.
