Description: Report on the proceedings of the 2010 Long Term Care Think Tank Session, whose goals were to discuss the major issues and challenges facing the LTC insurance industry, and to formulate action items and initiatives to help the industry move ahead. Focus was on understanding the needs & affordability capabilities of different market segments, the limited variety of product designs, shrinking distribution force, regulation and public policy, implications of the CLASS Act, and ideas for educating consumers and marketing products.

They will share their findings regarding the impact on the industry of these changes using the most up to date data and modeling available.

Description: This study, part of the Society of Actuaries [SOA} ‘Research Projects – Finance/Investment,’ is sponsored by the SOA Futurism Section, Investment Section, Committee on Finance Research and Committee on Knowledge Extension Research. This study investigates the merits of conducting a study on economic variables utilizing the Delphi method, a futures research technique. The report consists of eight documents, the report and seven Appendices [A through G].

Description: Twenty years ago Steve Tutewohl’s clients were taking bold risks with limited information, little analytical support and hardly any data. As an actuary working on the provider side, Tutewohl started out in a traditional role in an untraditional environment. In his early years at Valence Health he was focused on educating, informing and bringing knowledge to providers so they could level the playing field with payers when they were negotiating and managing risks. Today Tutewohl’s clients have “data that is above and beyond what the payer has.”
