Description: This session 39TS of the 2004 Valuation Actuary Symposium discusses the different techniques for determining health unpaid claim liabilities such as the traditional loss development method, casualty reserving techniques and new approaches that have been discussed in recent actuarial literature. Case studies explore and illustrate the issues and the pros and cons associated with each technique.

Description: This session presents a summary of actuarial and potential uses of stochastic modeling for health actuaries.
