Under this method, the statement liability for a block of business is the value of the assets required to enable the insurer to run off the block. The method therefore involves both assets and liabilities and reflects the insurer's investment policy.

Description: This paper examines inclusion of the value of future new business in value-added financial reporting. The objective of the paper is to develop methods to provide useful information to management that links the pricing, planning and reporting process.
