This article describes the efforts of the Society of Actuaries Task Force on Alternative Care to determine the effectiveness of alternative or integrative medicine, including nontraditional techniques such as chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, and nutritional counseling.

There are several actuarial organizations in North America, and as a result different groups are addressing limited energy to the same problems.” The article then discusses the Society of Actuaries’ recent proposal for reorganization of the profession, and the committee formed to proceed with reorganization. It is noted that the SOA so far is the only organization endorsing the proposal, but other organizations have expressed a willingness to listen.
