Description: The presenters at this session will provide an overview of recent developments in statutory valuation, U.S . GAAP and regulatory capital issues pertaining to life and annuity products as well as IFRS and the global insurance capital standard.

Description: FASB has provided broad guidance for application of the targeted improvements in Actuarial Standards Update 2018-12 for U.S GAAP financial reporting. However, the broad guidance provided leads to several interpretation and modeling challenges for life insurance, annuity, disability and LTC products. The presenters focus these challenges and possible methods to address them. Audience participation is encouraged. At the conclusion of the session, attendees will be able to: - Describe the changes made to U.S. GAAP under the targeted improvements - Explain various interpretations of modeling products under the changes to U.S. GAAP

Description: The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) recently introduced the Target Improvements for Long-Duration insurance Contracts (ASU 2018-12), including creation of the market risk benefits product category. The presenters will review and summarize the FASB target improvements and discuss its impact on variable annuities and fixed indexed annuity in-force management and product development.
