After reviewing the data provided by the participating companies, the committee decided that it would be appropriate to produce a new experience report that would cover the entire 18 years of experience data that had been gathered over the last decade.

In the present paper the writer attributes much of the confusion in medical literature on mortality trends to the emphases placed on coronary disease as a cause of death.
