Description: This article reflects on the discipline agreement signed by the CIA and the U.S.-based actuarial organizations, intended to avoid multiple disciplinary investigations arising out of a single complaint, inquiry or incident involving an alleged breach of the professional standards of the CIA and/or the U.S.-based organizations.

Description: Presented at October 1996 Annual Meeting. In this session, the discussion looks at recent practice areas where actuaries have been involved in litigation. A review for lessons learned is undertaken and measures are examined which may be taken as protection from or to better deal with litigious situations.
