Description: This paper studies actuaries' educational backgrounds and social relationships. The purpose of the study is two-fold. It looks at the educational backgrounds of actuaries and how their backgrounds affect their careers. By this, the author wants to see if things such as the major studied or the attendance of graduate school affected the time to attain Associateship and Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries. Secondly, the author wants to know if being in the actuarial profession has any effect on marriage and family, as well as to know if marriage and family has any effect on the career.
