Description: In this presentation Nobel-prize-winning theorems of economics and corporate finance are introduced and followed by a discussion of how the recent waves of corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions are motivated by these important and basic theorems. There is also an overview of the SOA's investment and finance education courses. Course F-580 is corporate finance for any type of corporation.

Description: 1994 SOA Spring Meeting, Orlando. This teaching session introduced Course 230 to seasoned actuaries who missed the opportunity to study ALM material on their road to Fellowship. The focus of this session was to expose the various subjects covered, identify reading materials, and highlight a few topics.
