Marketing & Distribution Section—2021 Themes, Plans and Leadership
Welcome, and thank you for visiting the Marketing & Distribution Section webpage. The section fosters research, innovation, and education in distribution methods of insurance and financial services products and the inter-relationship of marketing strategies with product design, underwriting and operations.
Themes and Plans
Section leadership comes together annually to establish its strategic themes as a guide for development of subject matter for the coming year. The themes of “Marketing Analytics” and “Understanding Distribution” guided us in 2020, while the following themes will serve as the backdrop for 2021 section activities:
- Disruption and a New Age of Consumption
- “Brand-Aid” (identifying, defining, building and sustaining your brand)
We plan to nurture and build on our mission with targeted content from a marketing and distribution perspective, including collaboration whenever possible with other sections across a variety of mediums and content, such as:
- Webcasts (including COVID-19 one year later and professionalism topics in 2021)
- Podcasts across a spectrum of topics and backgrounds (targeting four to six annually)
- Newsletter articles and insight
- SOA meeting presentations and networking opportunities
- Competiscan market perspectives (quarterly)
- Sponsored research
With an eye on (but not limited to) those themes and plans, we look forward to engaging with our section members and the broader actuarial community throughout 2021.
