Welcome to the newest issue of Small Talk!

Maybe this shouldn’t come as a great surprise, but this issue will focus on a variety of pandemic related topics. This issue will provide you with some recent statistics on what continues to evolve along with other strategies you will likely need to consider.

As both where and how work is performed continues to change, our interactions with each other are critical. Our common ground is to provide better products and services to the stakeholders that we serve. With that goal, our ability to work effectively together will determine the success of our profession and the institutions that we serve.

Small Talk exists to provide that interaction. To achieve that interaction, we need you! You are a critical element of our future success. To further your success, and the success of others, please consider:

  • Join and participate in the sections within the Society of Actuaries. This provides you the opportunity to learn from, and mentor others within the profession.
  • Attend and participate in industry meetings. The networking and educational opportunities will benefit you, and others, for years to come.
  • Share what you know by writing articles for the various newsletters. Each of us is an expert in something, and that expertise is most useful when shared with others.

The Smaller Insurance Company Section needs you to better meet the needs of all members. Consider joining our efforts to make our profession stronger.

Statements of fact and opinions expressed herein are those of the individual authors and are not necessarily those of the Society of Actuaries, the editors, or the respective authors’ employers.
