2021 Board Member Candidate
Jonathan A, Meyers, FSA 2000, MAAA
Chief Actuary Officer
InnovaCare Health
White Plains NY
Election Message:
The Actuarial profession and Society of Actuaries are held in high regard across industries and disciplines due to our strong technical knowledge and ability to quickly assess trends and anticipate and measure risk. The Society of Actuaries has done a great job staying ahead of the curve and making sure Actuaries are bringing our premier expertise to emerging disciplines, widening the scope of our technical reach. I would like to use my more non-traditional professional, leadership, and mentoring experience on the Board of Directors to continue the endeavor to extend the areas of work Actuaries do beyond these technical aspects to enhance opportunities and broaden the appeal of our profession beyond the typical perceptions, roles and responsibilities.
Brief description of current work:
As Chief Actuary Officer at InnovaCare Health, I led Actuarial Services, Analytics, Informatics and Risk Adjustment Operations for Medicare Advantage plans in Puerto Rico and Florida, a Managed Medicaid Plan in Puerto Rico and risk-bearing clinics throughout Florida. I helped support two (2) successful Private Equity transactions for the 9th largest Medicare Advantage plan in the country as key communicator for Actuarial, Risk Adjustment Operations, and Analytics and Data, as well as other clinical and operational topics as applicable. As Medicare and Medicaid committee member and Technical Chair for MMAPA (Medicaid and Medicare Advantage Product Association of Puerto Rico), I worked with National and Local Legislators, Administrators and their consultants to guide policy and implement funding enhancement to a historically underserved population. I collaborated with Clinicians, Network Managers, Marketing and various other operational leads to formulate protocols, benefits and strategies to optimize health outcomes for these patients.
